What Does It Mean To Be Green?
In the film industry, being "green" refers to someone who is new, inexperienced, or lacking professional knowledge in a particular area of production. It can apply to various roles, from actors and directors to crew members like grips, lighting technicians, or production assistants. A "green" person may be unfamiliar with industry jargon, processes, or set etiquette and usually requires guidance and mentorship from more experienced professionals. The term is often used in a neutral or mildly negative context to describe someone who still has much to learn about the industry's workflows and expectations.
